The other day, amidst the chaos of parenting three lively children with ASD, my partner sent me a WhatsApp message that catapulted our household into a dental and digital conundrum. “Our three-year-old has a black tooth with a cavity. Dental care is going to cost us a fortune,” she typed, her words heavy with concern. I could almost see her furrowed brow through the screen. In my wisdom, I responded, “Let’s banish sugar from our realm until these tiny tyrants agree to brush their teeth.” Little did we know, our troubles were just beginning.

As we deliberated over wafers and ice pops, lamenting our financial state and the perils of sugary treats, I stumbled upon a story that shook me to my core. “Lessons from the viral toothbrush malware story,” the headline screamed. My eyes widened. Could our toothbrushes betray us too?

According to the article, hackers had launched an attack, not on banks or governments, but on something far more personal: smart toothbrushes. Millions of euros in damage, they claimed. My mind raced. Were our children’s toothbrushes conspiring against us? Was this cavity a sign of a cyber assault on our very hygiene?
